my book recommendations
I made this list back in 2022-ish, but hopefully it still stands today. Also, keep the date in mind when reading my descriptions
Miscellaneous
-
No Longer Human — Osamu Dazai
holy shit!!! A very troubled man who can’t really connect/open up/live as others do. He puts a sort of mask on himself. “I had now ceased utterly to be a human being.”
-
On the Road — Jack Kerouac
If you are in a transition period in your life I think this is the book to read. Hard to describe but it's famous for a reason. I think this book had a really big impact on me and I'm grateful I read it at the time I did (ending HS going into college).
-
Crime and Punishment — Fyodor Dostoevsky
hell YEAH!!! So complex, so good, oh my god i loved it with all my heart. A young man (Rasko!!!) and his moral scruples, philosophy, struggles, etc…
-
The Remains of the Day — Kazuo Ishiguro
A story of duty and regret.
-
5 Stories of Music and Nightfall — Kazuo Ishiguro
Just as beautiful as The Remains of the Day. Ishiguro's writing is like the sound of silence.
